Annual Events

Volunteers Recognition Dinner – A celebration/victory dinner is held at the close of the campaign for all who have volunteered their services during the Annual United Way Campaign.  Several awards and certificates are distributed at this event.  The total amount raised for the campaign is unveiled at this event. 

Golf Tournament – Each year the United Way Board of Directors host a “Drive for Charity-United Way Golf Classic.”  Local individuals, businesses and the community are invited to participate in this event.  The tournament, which was started as a public relations event, has now become the initial fundraiser for the upcoming fall campaign.

Volunteer Service Recognition Award – This award a.k.a. William E. Swigart Award is awarded to an individual who has at least 10 years of volunteer service to the United Way.  The awardees community service must make and have an impact on the community and success of a United Way Agency.

Huntingdon County Fair – United Way participates in the annual Huntingdon County Fair by hosting a booth that displays information about United Way and its 17 agencies.

Day of Caring – As early as 1987, United Ways began launching their annual fund-raising drives by engaging volunteers from all walks of life to participate in this nationwide event. Hundreds of Huntingdon Countians gather to help address community needs by volunteering.  Students from county school districts join with a host of adult volunteers to do projects and chores for the elderly, disabled, United Way agencies and other public and non-profit agencies.  The Day of Caring demonstrates how volunteering can make a positive impact in the community. 

Holly Trail – This public relations event also serves as a fundraiser for the United Way.  It is held in December and showcases several homes in downtown Huntingdon for the public to view the many themes and decorations celebrating the holiday season.  All proceeds benefit United Way.
