Wood N’ Work - May 16 & 17

May 16th and 17th is CBD’s annual Work Weekend. On Friday there will be several work projects around camp: decking the stage, shingling the pavilion, siding the new cabins, and constructing a porch roof for Rising Sun. If you don’t feel comfortable helping with these building projects, camp needs volunteers to rake or stain buildings too. Contact CBD by phone (814) 667-2355 or email ( and let us know which job your crew would like to do - so we can get the supplies).

Woodcutting Day is Saturday, so fire up the chainsaws & splitters and have at it. We’ll start early around 8:00 and work until around 3.  A hearty lunch will be served both days, and a breakfast for those who show up early on Saturday. Youth and Junior High groups, accompanied by their adult advisors, are welcome too. Bring your chainsaws, pick-ups and especially splitters (there’s never enough splitters).

Building Projects at Camp:

Volunteers are needed for a variety of construction projects around Camp Blue Diamond. Currently the new Lakeside Cabin is going up, and finishing work needs to be done on the Rising Sun cabin. If you can help call Camp’s Facility Director Paul Witkovsky at (814) 667-2355. The new Rising Sun cabin has been a popular rental with families its first summer. It has three bedrooms, each with regular and double/single bunks, two bathrooms (one handicapped accessible), a full kitchen, balcony/TV Area, and a large living/dining area.  The cabin overlooks the lake, and has a large front porch with old-timey rockers. Call or email camp with your reservation!
