Building Projects

 

 

Several building projects, like the new Lakeside Cabin located across from the lake's spillway, are underway at Camp Blue Diamond, these include:

  • Finishing siding, and porch railings on the Rising Sun Cabin 
    •
  • Electrical, plumbing and inside Construction of the new Lakeside
  • Laying new decking for Stage Floor 

Currently skilled and not-so-skilled volunteers are needed for construction jobs. Anyone wishing to help should call a few days prior, so Paul can get the necessary supplies.  We'll provide lunch.

 

 

 

New Family/Small Group Cabins- Lakeside & Rising Sun

Each new cabin will have over 1500 sq. feet, and can accommodate twelve guests easily. When completed the two side-by-side cabins could be used jointly by a larger rental group (up to 24 guests). Each cabin has a kitchen, dining/living room, three bedrooms, a loft, two bathrooms, TV/VCR/DVD, central heat and air, frig, oven, microwave and dishwasher. They will be handicapped accessible.  Rising Sun Cabin is ready for rentals, Lakeside is scheduled for completion in Fall 2008. Please call CBD (814) 667-2355 or email for information.  

 

 

 

Old Rising Sun Cabin Demolished  
With the help of the backhoe, Paul and a large group of volunteers from the Martinsburg Memorial Church of the Brethren demolished the Old Rising Sun cabin. The new Rising Sun and Lakeside cabins will sit to the right and left of the former cabin.  A parking lot for the two new cabins will sit where the old Rising Sun used to be.    

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

New Staff Duplex
The new staff building will be a duplex where the Program Director can live year round, and the Facility Director and family can live during the summer. The building will have two identical floors with two bedrooms, a kitchen/living room, and bathroom laundry on each floor. It will be located across from the office, where the staff trailer is presently. Construction will hopefully begin in late 2008 or early 2009.
